Longe Côte (sea walks) along the Baltic Sea coast
Since 2010, this concept has rapidly spread along the sea coast in France, and several clubs have been created. In 2014, this movement has begun its operation also in Latvia. Longe Côte principle is to trek up to the waist in the sea. Oars are used to facilitate the movement and to ensure the balance. In addition, wet hydrosuits are being used what make this activity available all year round. The standard distance is 3 km walk which takes about 1.5 hours. Longe Côte movement in recent years has rapidly increased. This is largely thanks to the fact that it is very healthy, includes physical movement and natural environment. Water resistance ensures that even for relatively simple movements it is necessary to put more pressure, thus the whole body is employed. There are parallel actions - movement forward and balancing. Longe Côte has a positive impact on the body, especially on joints and blood circulation. These factors, as well as the fact that this movement is not traumatic is reason why the doctors and physical therapists in France advises this activity for their patients.
